Erica Ash
(Micki/Shirelle/Dance Captain),a graduate of Emory University is grateful to God for the Forrest-Gump-like experiences she has had in her career, such as runway and print modeling in Japan, Korea, India, Israel, New York, Brazil, and ringside announcer for K-1 kickboxing in Tokyo (2 yrs.). Berlando Drake
(Shirley/Shirelle), began her singing career in her teens, performing with a number of rhythm and blues artists, and later writing and recording songs. Her first recording as a solo artist was on Columbia Records, where she had a hit single that climbed to #10 on the Billboard Music Charts. Berlando has performed as an opening act, and recorded and toured internationally with various artists. She worked with the Ray Charles Orchestra where she performed as a Raelette. Berlando is honored to be a part of the original cast of the world premiere of Baby It’s You.
Geno Henderson
(Jocko/Ron Isley/Chuck Jackson/Gene Chandler). A native of Los Angeles, Geno began playing guitar at nine years of age. He jump-started his career, touring, recording and making television appearances with: The Gap Band, Billy Preston, Sly Stone, The Pointer Sisters, The Brothers Johnson and The 5th Dimension. Carnegie Hall appearances with: Roberta Flack, Aaron Neville, Patti Austin with James Ingram and Melissa Manchester. Beethoven (CBS animated series) featured Geno’s lead vocal on the opening theme. A Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute Scholarship recipient, Geno studied with Mark Marno, Sally Kirkland and Susan Peretz. Drew Carey, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Wings, Soul Train, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno are among Geno’s additional credits. He would like to dedicate his experience in this project to the memory of his beloved cousin, Mr. Roscoe Lee Browne.
Meeghan Holaway
(Florence Greenberg), has performed leading roles in over sixty plays in theatres across the country. Some of her favorite theatre roles: Dinner With Friends (Beth, Off Broadway, Pulitzer Prize Winning), Sylvia (Sylvia), Noises Off (Brooke), Lend Me a Tenor (Diana), Hay Fever (Myra), Company (Sarah). She has done guest spots on a number of television shows such as Everybody Loves Raymond, Law & Order, Cold Case, Without A Trace, Law & Order, Desperate Housewives, Two and a Half Men, and Private Practice, as well as recurring roles on Lifetime’s Inspector Mom and Showtime’s The Hoop Life. She appeared in Frank Miller’s The Spirit, and can be seen Tim Allen’s Crazy On The Outside, which will open in 2010.
Paulette Ivory
(Beverly Shirelle/Dionne Warwick). British born Paulette Ivory’s last venture at the Playhouse earned an NAACP Award nomination for her role as ‘Lutibelle’ in Purlie. She has gone on to be one of London’s most acclaimed singer/ actresses. She played the title role of ‘Aida’ in Elton John and Disney’s Aida on the National US tour to critical acclaim and was also nominated for a Helen Hayes Award for best lead actress. Paulette went on to co-star in Blues in the Night, directed by Sheldon Epps. West end credits: Disney’s The Lion King (Nala), Smokey Joe’s Café (Brenda), The Hot Mikado (Yum Yum), Oscar Wilde’s A Woman of No Importance. Adam Irizarry
(Stanley Greenberg/Mr. Bass Man/Kingsmen Singer/Burt Bacharach/Musical Director/Arrangements), is an actor, pianist and singer/songwriter, originally from New York City. In 2003, Adam starred in the Broadway production of Movin' Out as “The Piano Man”. Film credits include a starring role in the 2006 short film Blindness, which debuted at Cannes, T.V. credits include Fox’s “The War At Home” and TLC’s “Untold Stories Of The E.R.”. In addition to the roles Adam plays in Baby It's You, he is also the musical director and arranger. Adam began playing piano at the age of 2, and studying music at age 5. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Manhattan School of Music, has won honorable mention in the Billboard National Songwriting Contest, and has performed all over the world as a pianist, singer and songwriter. Crystal Starr Knighton
(Doris /Shirelle/Millie). Crystal’s first professional job was at the age of 16, singing background for Jessica Simpson. She attended Santa Monica College, majoring in music. She has performed in clubs all over Los Angeles, and has shared the stage with artists like Kanye West, Yolanda Adams, Smokey Robinson, Anita Baker, John Legend, Neyo, Stevie Wonder, Heather Headley, Joss Stone, Nancy Wilson, Babyface, Howard McCrary, the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra, and Latin superstar Cristian Castro, in which she toured all over Latin America singing a duet with Joan Sebastian. She is currently working on her debut album with multi-platinum producer Viet Renn who has produced hits for Nsync, Backstreet Boys and Jennifer Hudson. Allan Louis
(Luther Dixon), is thrilled to be making his Pasadena Playhouse debut. Louis created the role of Booker T. Washington in Ragtime, the American premiere/1st National tour. At the other end of the spectrum, Louis donned a duck suit and sang “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” in The Education of Randy Newman so effectively that Newman himself told him, “You’ve immortalized that song for me.”
Louis soon landed roles in Martin and The Jamie Foxx Show, and appeared in Boston Legal, Invasion, Numb3rs, Cane, Days of Our Lives, Charmed and CSI: Miami. On the big screen, Louis appeared in the film Stomp the Yard, in the role of Dr. William Palmer and will reprise the role in the upcoming sequel. Currently, Louis brings his extensive experience to the role of Marco Giordani on the CW drama Privileged.
Matt McKenzie
(Marvin Schlacter), made his Broadway debut in William Gibson’s Monday After the Miracle, directed by Arthur Penn. He has played leading roles at major theatres across the country. His most recent local stage bow was in the world premiere of Vince Melocchi’s Lions at the Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice where he is a long-time member. He played Colin Clive in the Academy Award winning film Gods and Monsters opposite Sir Ian McKellen. Television credits include recurring roles on; 24, Veronica Mars, and Mad Men. His voice-over credits in feature films include; Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Vampire Hunter D: Blood Lust, and Princess Mononoke. In 2010 Matt will mark his thirtieth anniversary as a member of Actor’s Equity Association.
Barry Pearl
(Bernie Greenberg/Milt Gabler), best known as “Doody” from Paramount’s film, Grease and by kids as “Professor Tinkerputt” from Barney’s Imagination Island is thrilled to finally be working for long time friend and Carnegie -Mellon colleague, Sheldon Epps.
